Logo and Brochure design
The concept project I designed for Kauai was aimed at capturing the essence of the beautiful island while infusing a clean and modern aesthetic. I wanted to create a brand that would reflect the natural beauty of Kauai while appealing to a contemporary audience. To achieve this, I incorporated the whale tail and waves into the logo's lettering, giving it a distinct Hawaiian flair. The logo is concise and visually communicates a lot about Kauai, making it instantly recognizable.
To showcase the effectiveness of the logo, I featured it on a beach towel. The combination of the whale tail and waves, set against a white background, evokes a sense of tranquility and relaxation that is synonymous with Kauai. The logo's colors, blue and green, were chosen to represent the ocean and lush greenery that surrounds the island.
The Kauai logo looks fantastic on the dark background hoodie, as the earthy tones of blue and white blend seamlessly. The blue color represents the ocean waves, which play a significant role in Kauai's culture and lifestyle. The white color signifies the frothy waves, adding a dynamic and lively feel to the logo. Additionally, the earthy tones of the design also represent the sandy shores of Kauai. The logo effectively captures the essence of the island's natural beauty, showcasing the vast ocean waves meeting the sandy coastline. Overall, the Kauai logo works well on the dark background hoodie, bringing out its earthy colors and effectively representing the island's culture and environment.
The billboard featured the slogan "Happiness comes in waves," which encapsulates the laid-back island lifestyle. The copy was designed to resonate with visitors and locals alike, reminding them to enjoy the simple pleasures of life on Kauai. The billboard's design was intentionally kept simple to draw attention to the message and allow the slogan to speak for itself.
The brochure design was created to showcase the different activities available on the island. The brochure's concept utilized the black version of the logo for nighttime activities, restaurants, and other nocturnal events. On the other hand, the white version of the logo was used to highlight daytime activities and menus. This approach created a cohesive and unified brand experience that was both practical and visually appealing.
Overall, the design project was a resounding success, creating a modern, yet natural aesthetic that reflected the beauty and essence of Kauai. The concise logo and attention to detail were particularly effective in capturing the attention of visitors and locals, creating a sense of pride and ownership in the island's brand. The use of the logo on the beach towel, billboard, and brochure was a great way to showcase its versatility and effectiveness, ensuring that it was recognized across all touchpoints of the brand experience.
